In addition, methods of obtaining other diagnostic information

from this signal are investigated.

The air-dropped

(OSAGE) furnished an excellent opportunity

to check some predfaitons which had been made concerning the reduction
in field strength to be expected from air drops,

The signal strength =

was about six times that predicted,
An alpha system was in operation, but the traces are unrecognizable.
It has not yet been determined whether this was due to radio interference
or whether the radiated signal had a strange shape.

There is some evid-

ence that it took the form of a rapidly or growing oscillation.
