GENERAL DISARMAMENT
QUESTION :
Mr. President, when do we expect the Ten~Nation Disarmament
Committee to begin its negotiations on general disarmament?
ANSWER :
No specific date has as yet been set for these negotiations.
I imagine they will begin sometime in the early part of next year
but all parties concerned should have anple time to prepare for
the negotiations to assure that they will be fruitful.
Mr. President, could you give us your views on Chairman
Khrushchev's proposal for complete and general disarmament?

I would say this, We are ready to go as far on the road to
controlled disarmament as any other country, I would add in this
comection, that we are ready and willing to examine in the tennation disarmament committee any and all proposals which offer
prospects for reaching a practical, controlled disarmament apreenente
