POST SURGICAL HOSPITAL COURSE: The patient's convalescence was uneventful, and she was transferred back to this hospital on September 10. Her subsequent course showed uncomplicated healing of her wound. A repeat scan of the thyroid showed absence of the right lobe. Follicular carcinoma with capsular invasion and minimal blood vessel invasion. DISCHARGE MEDICATION: The patient was informed that she would have to take thyroid medication continously from now on.
