Mr. Strauss commented that from a political standpoint
and to help assure continuation of U.S. tests it would be of
ereat help if the shot could be deferred to a subsequent
operation.
General Starbird said that although there had
been insufficient time for a detailed study of reef location,
he wished to point out there was
tsunami if a reef were used.

basis of past experience a site could be selected which would
minimize the possibility of such an occurence.
After further discussion, the Commission requested that
a determination be made of the feasibility of firing the TEWA
anot on land or in shallow water within the next week or ten
days.
The Commissioners also indicatec that if further post-
ponement were necessary, the question should be referred
hack to the Commission.
