Thank you for your memorandum of February 18, 1953 re the sane
subject with attached informative memos.
This will confirm our telephone conversation of December 17, 1952

to the effect that spe@ial "Rad-Safe" physical examinations prior

to undertaking work involving entry into "contaminated" areas
are not considered essential or particularly useful by the
Division of Biology and Medicines.

ve note that lump sum, unit price or cost type contractors do
not normally require pre-employment physical examinations for
their personnel.

We can find no valid reason for asking these contractors to
deviate from their normal policies with respect to decontamination
activities at Nevada Proving Grounds, so long as present radiation
safety policies for Nevada Proving Grounds pertain,
