As you know, a series of nuclear tests will be held at the Pecific
Proving Ground in the near future. In order to afford important
governsenteal officials an opportunity to keep abreast of developments in the weapons field, the Comuission with the Department of
Defense is arranging an official observer program. cn behalf of
the Commission, I would like to invite you te attend.
Siz observer trips are scheduled, the first to depart Fashington
about April 26 and the others to follow at intervals of about
fifteen days.
it is planned that observer parties will leave
Washington aboard a special mission aircraft about six days ahead
of the echeduled date of the shot, be in the forward area about
four days, and then return, taking four days for the return trip.
In all, the time away fron Yashington would be some twelve days;
more or less.
Hecease cecomacdations at the Proving Greund are Limited, I wuld
appreciate early information as to vhether you can attend and, if
so, the pericd or periods convenient. If your attendance is
posaible, I shall have one of my ataff contact you further relative
to details.
