This structure of heavy timber and steel mounted on reinforced concrete footings,
supports two steel water tanks 50'-0" above grade for storing fresh and salt
water and provides a pressure supply to the two water mains.
The salt water storage tank of bolted steel construction ia 21'-6 1/2" diameter x
16'-1" high, capacity 1000 barrels (42,000 gallons). The fresh water storage
tank of bolted steel construction ia 21'-6 1/2" diameter x &'-O0" high, capacity
500 barrelea (21,000 gaiiona).
The tower consista of a wood platform elevated 50'-O" above grade, size 27'-0"
wide x 52'-O" long, with a 3'~6" handrail around all four sides, mounted on
12" steel joist amd 18" steel I beams all securely bolted to cen timber columns
(two rows of five each) size 12" x 12", steel spliced and horizontally braced
by 4" x 8" wood struts between all columns and crisscross tied with 3/4" diameter
galvanised steel rods into benta, |; sections wide and 4 sections high.
One
ladder loads to a landing 1y'-0" below the platform and a second ladder leads
up to the platform. Al) coluans are securely bolted to the heavy concrete
footings.
FRESH WATER STORAGK TANKS ~ Blidge. #312 and #326
Two 500 barrel (21,000 gallons) tanks, Building #312 and #326; size I.D.
21'=-6 1/2" diameter x 8'-0" high.
Each tank is of bolted steel construction
with center support, reinforced conical roof, inlet-cutlet openings, drain and
valves, clean-out panel, manhole in roof with cover, ladders, gauge, piping,
fittings, and valves; set on reinforced concrete foundation, octagonal shaped,
22'-6" between sides, area 419 square feet.
These are standard steel tanks, no As-Built drawings made, for location
eee drawing FS-626.
