POST-GO OFF-ISLAND WEATHER FACILITIES
The U. S, Air Force Air Weather Service (AWS) has been tasked by
JTF-8 OPLAN 100-69 to furnish weather data in the Pacific Basin in
the event it is decided to resume nuclear testing in that area.

The Task Force will estab-
lish a RATT/CWradio net to handle WX traffic.
Each AWS facility
will provide weather service to scientific projects and support activities on the various islands. Weather reconnaissance aircraft will compliment the island and ship observational network.
The USAF AWS weather plan does not duplicate installations on islands
that presently have similar facilities available for furnishing atmospheric
and surface weather data.

either to the U. S. Navy Weather Service (NWS) or the U. S. Weather
Bureau (USWB). The Navy will also take surface observations from
