The United Stutes itomic unergy Commission today gave public notics
that hazards will exiyt in < rectangular aren, described below, surrounding
Eniwetok Atoll, site o¥ the Couission's proving ground for routine experi-
ments ana tests of atomie weapons.

It was announced that these hezards, a consequence of tests of

military wenpons to be conducted, will exist aftor Janucry 31, 1948 and throughout the calendar year 19438.
The areca cesignated os a uinyer area is bounded as follows:
Beyinning with a point at 10°-~15!' worth latitude and 1609-35!
Hast Longitud?, north_ohone the meridian of 1609-35! Kast lLongitude to.a point at 12°-45' North latitude, 160°-35' ast longitude thence wast along the peraitel of 1pO.45) North latitude
to a point atv 129-~45' North latitude and 1639-55' East longi-
tude, thence south along the meridian of 163°-55'
East longitude to a point of 109-15' North intitude and 163°-55' fas
Longitude, thence vicst to the point of beginning.
All possitle preecutions will be taken to insure against the incidence
of injuries to human life or to property within the danger crew. If necessary,
warnings of any hagards sutvide the designated danger urea will be giver’ in the
event that such dangers are crunted oy activities conducted within the danger
ares.
